Homemade Puto Cheese

I'm back with my favorite things to do which is cooking and baking.... I made this puto cheese this morning and I sell it in our sari-sari store for P2.00 pesos each. I'm glad our boarders and students in SPAMAST school love it...bottom's up at the end of the day!

Just wanna share this recipe to you guys, i'm sure you will love it, the texture is soft and tastier....here's how to do it:

Ingredients:
3 cups cake flour
1 cup white sugar (divide sugar, 1/2 c. for dry ings., 1/2 c. for egg whites)
1 1/2 cups water (instead of water i use sprite cola or lime cola, to make it tastier)
6-8 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsps. milk evaporated
1 1/2 tsps. baking powder
1/4 tsp. Cream of tartar
cheese (grated)

Procedure:
1. Separate eggyolks from white.
2. Beat thoroughly egg whites with 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar, add slowly 1/2 sugar. set aside.
3. Mix all dry ingredients, blend well
4. Add liquid ingredients, mix
5. Pour-in the beaten egg whites, mix well, dont beat just cut and fold
6. Pour into muffin cups laden with cut cellopahane or pre-cut puto cheese paper greased with a little oil or butter, half full
spread cheese
7. Steam for 15-20 minutes.

HAPPY COOKING!!

Thank you for the recipe. It tasted so good but the thing is it did not pop. What do you think was the problem? Again, thanks.

Hi, thanks for trying my recipe. Actually there are lots of causes why poor volume of cake, 1. poor quality of egg, try to use large and fresh eggs, 2. Insufficient beating of eggs, try my 1 minute mix. 3. Under baked, It should be right temperature. 4. Too high or too low temperature of egg white while beating. 5. wrong size of pan.

Hi, sorry I just read your comment here... you can use any cheese as long as its not too soft or not creamy or something like that.... but any cheese is ok.

Hello again!
I just made the puto. The taste is nice howevever, it is not as white as the ones you've made. I thought that it must be how I beat the egg white, cream of tartar and the sugar. How frothy should the egg white be? should it be like the ones for icing or meringue when you tip the bowl it wont drop?
Thanks for reading.

Hi mimie, yes just like the meringue, hmm... not that white, i guess its the egg whites and the sugar you use. dont use the eggyolk, just the white. its ok if its not too white as long as it tastes good, thats really matter hehe... thanks for trying my recipe.... im gonna make other recipes too soon... i just busy with my wedding preparations now... enjoy cooking

hi, kung wala koy cream of tartar, okay lang ba? pls. advise. thanks

BabyTiger said...

its ok if you dont have cream of tartar, but to me I love to put a little because it helps to stabilize egg whites.

hi babytiger,i think i like your puto cheese recipe, ask ko lang ano po ba ang right temperature ng steamer sa pagbi bake nito?..ano po ba ang right temp sa pagbi beat nga egg whites? ano po ba ang right size ng pan? at how many pcs. po ba ang nagagawa nitong recipe mo? thank you very much...i will be waiting for your reply....i really love your recipe...take care and god bless

hi jasmen,

Dont forget to put a little oil sa puto cups mo para hindi masyadong dumikit. tnx for likng!

hi Del, the puto is very beautiful:), i made one yesterday but it was yellowish, we used butter kasi for that but i noticed walang butter ang ingredients mo, is butter necessary or ok lang talaga wala yun. In addition, pde lagyan ng konting vanilla para lang mas mabango ung puto?

BabyTiger said...

yes you can put vanilla para mabango. its up to u if u put butter or not pero wag lng madami kasi magiging greasy na. thanks for liking my puto cheese.
